P-Valley Season 3 Confirmed: Cast, Story & Everything We Know (2024)

Following the success of its first two critically acclaimed seasons, anticipation is incredibly high for P-Valley season 3. Based on the play Pu**y Valley, P-Valley is a Starz drama series that explores the lives of the dancers and employees who work at a Mississippi strip club called The Pynk and the struggles they face day-to-day both in and outside work. P-Valley features a talented cast of actors such as Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, and Shannon Thornton who all consistently give fantastic performances.

At the end of season 2, the main protagonist, Mercedes Woodbine (Evans) officially retires from The Pynk and starts a new journey in her life. Additionally, Lil' Murda (J. Alphonse Nicholson) and Uncle Clifford Sayles (Annan) officially decide to reveal their secret romance to their friends and loved ones. The season 2 finale has left a lot of storylines open-ended, but how the show plans on exploring these character arcs is still left up to speculation, as audiences wait for news about P-Valley season 3.

P-Valley Season 3 Latest News

On February 23, 2024, P-Valley star Nicco Annan, who plays Uncle Clifford Sayles, spoke with BuzzFeed about the upcoming season. When asked about the release date for season 3, Annan said,

It's a new day, it's a new year, it's 2024. I am sure that the doors of The Pynk will be open very soon. I am not back at work on that project. I am at work on another project that's down in the valley and will give you all a tease and a taste of some good-good in between. But the doors of The Pynk will absolutely be open again soon.

While Annan's comments are ambiguous about whether filming for P-Valley season 3 has yet to start or has already wrapped, he makes it clear here and later in the interview that the third installment of the beloved Starz show is definitely happening.

P-Valley Season 3 Confirmed

In October 2022, two months after the season 2 finale, it was confirmed that P-Valley would be returning to Starz for a third season. Series creator Katori Hall said in a statement to TV Line,

"I am blessed beyond measure for this opportunity to write the next chapter of P-Valley. With its complex, dynamic and beautifully flawed characters, this show is a love letter to marginalized communities in the American South who rarely see themselves reflected on screen, and it brings me immense joy to know that it has been embraced by folx worldwide."

For a while, it seemed that P-Valley season 3 would never arrive. In May 2023, it was announced that P-Valley season 3 would completely halt production due to the WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike. Hall echoed her support for the picketing writers, stating, via Deadline,

"We will not be filming until a fair deal is reached."

Fortunately for everyone, the writer's strike ended on September 27, 2023, and the SAG-AFTRA strike ended in November 2023, meaning P-Valley season 3 could resume production.

P-Valley Season 3 Cast

While P-Valley has yet to make any major confirmation regarding its season 3 cast, it is very likely that most of the main characters from seasons 1 and 2 will be returning, including Brandee Evans as Mercedes Woodbine, Shannon Thornton as Keyshawn Harris/Miss Mississippi, Skyler Joy as Gidget, J. Alphonse Nicholson as LaMarques/Lil Murda, Parker Sawyers as Andre Watkins, Morocco Omari as Big L, Dominic DeVore as Duffy, and Harriett D. Foy as Patrice Woodbine.

The only actor confirmed not to appear in P-Valley season 3 is Elarica Johnson, who played Autumn Knight, because her character decided to move away at the end of season 2. According to Hall, Autumn has reached the natural end of her character arc, saying, via EW,

"She was a woman who came in on the wind and (she leaves) on the wind."

Nicco Annan as Uncle Clifford Sayles, the owner of The Pynk, is the only actor confirmed to be returning, at the moment, as per his comments to BuzzFeed.

P-Valley Season 3 Story Details

It has yet to be revealed what P-Valley season 3's exact story will be. However, the show's third outing will likely focus on both Mercedes and her journey after retiring and the romance between Lil'Murda and Uncle Clifford. Hall has stated that she has particularly detailed plans for Mercedes, stating, via Elle,

"I want her to have everything. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her daughter. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her mother. They probably need to go to therapy."

However, whether Mercedes will get everything she's after remains uncertain. Annan gave an exciting hint about what can be expected in P-Valley season 3 in his BuzzFeed interview, saying,

"I can tell you that if you thought Season 1 and 2 were giving you something, Season 3 is going to be more than worth the wait."

Considering how well-received the first two seasons of P-Valley were, Annan's promise is an exciting announcement.
